Extra Quiz/Test Attempts Policy
All (approvedattempt requests will be made available according to the timetable below, after the completion of the previous attempt of the same quiz, unless otherwise stated. The reason for the wait times between attempts of the same quiz is to ensure you have sufficient time to restudy the material. Therefore, it is in your best interest to use the wait time wisely, because the wait time between attempts increases with each extra attempt.

  • First Extra: The first extra attempt (4th attempt overall) for a given quiz is available 1 week after the completion of the previous attempt..
  • Second Extra: The second extra attempt (5th attempt overall) for that same quiz will be made available at 2 weeks.
  • Third Extra: Should you fail the fifth (5th) overall attempt (second extra) for a given quiz, the Extra Quiz Attempt request will be brought to the attention of Dr. Terry VanBuskirk (SLBC President) for evaluation and academic counselling recommendations.
"Why do you even have a maximum limit on 'free' attempts?" (Free attempt -- a quiz attempt without prior permission needed.)
Unfortunately, we have found that with "unlimited" attempts on quizzes, students often had attempt counts anywhere from 5 to 10 attempts on any given quiz. Such high attempt counts tell us that the student is not truly studying their materials. Given that most quizzes are open-book, there really is no excuse for a high attempt count. Therefore, the restriction and above Extra Attempts policy/schedule have had to be implemented in order to encourage taking one's time to thoroughly study their materials.
